Research for Music video: Reflection on Progress

How well do you feel you are progressing with your blogging compared to last year?

I believed I have progressed very mush especially with my use of different ICT programs and the detail that I have used in all my blogs. I have learnt to use a wider range of programs which I have feature in my research including:

• Prezi
• Emaze
• Slideshare
• Timetoast

These are just some of the examples of the different platforms that I have learnt to use so far. My research has become much more detailed in my opinion.

What are three things you need to improve on?

1. Although I am using more ICT than the previous year I believe that i should expand my use of different programs for example camtasia and final-cut pro.
2. I need to do more extra blogging mainly when it comes to my research and also when it comes to planning.
3. I should go over my blogs more often to make sure they are up to date and correct.

Research For Music Video: Skills Audit

My research in the AS year looked mainly into different types of representation that can be seen within teen dramas. I also had to research the different genre conventions seen in these teen films and some of the most stereotypical characters and settings that are seen within teen films.  Since last year my research skills i believe have grown as I am using a larger variety of platforms to help me present my research and I have now learned how to focus my research more so that it will help me more when it comes to the main project.

How well did I do last year?

For a beginner at media studies, I think I did well last year in relation to using new applications and software and quickly picking up skills needed to make an effective blog and opening for a film. They were simpler than what we are using this year, but complicated in some aspects. For example, when using Final Cut Pro, I had to adapt to the software of Apple and be able to use all features of the app. I could've used more ways to present my blogs, rather than just typing.

What about this year?

I'm using more complicated and advanced software so I need more patience as well. Also, blogging has become more intense as I have more research to do and more planning for the music video. I am using more ways to present my ideas such as the following:

Looking at the work I have done so far, I would give myself 18 out of 20 because:

1. I have used a wide variety of apps/websites to produce my blog posts
2. They are all detailed and worded well
3. I have uploaded most of my blogs well before the deadline date

What do I need to improve?

1. I could do more independent work and research
2. Try and involve myself more (videos)
