Evaluation Question 2

Q) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The synergy and how I incorporated it into the music video and ancillary work

Would the target audience be attracted to them and why?

I think our target would be attracted to the synergy we've used because it is girly, fun and very bright - this is what young teenage girls like. They are in the phase of life where makeup and doing yourself up is really important so the music video really emphasises how important it is to look nice but to also feel comfortable in what you're wearing, or in your own skin. The ancillary work I've produced then continues this because we still see a really pretty and stylish font with lots of red lips and the artist very happy and jolly - enjoying her life clearly. Most female pop artists have something that signifies their identity which allows the target audience to recognise who they are instantly.

Work that influenced me:

Cher Lloyd, Rita Ora and many other famous female pop artists use red lipstick which really makes them bold and stand out which is what we wanted our new upcoming artist to do.

Ariana Grande has her hair in the same style in most of her music videos and although it isn't a big deal, it helped us realise that it is a huge part of synergy too, otherwise our artist will look out of place and different if she has loads of hairstyles in just the music video alone. We did use a different hairstyle on the digipak though but only because it makes it slightly different and gives her a bit of edge. rather than just basing the whole thing around the one music video.

Therefore, when making the digipak and advert I made sure my artist stood out but still followed typical conventions for female pop artists. Even though every artist is different in their own way, they follow the same or similar customs which make them all one thing - POP ARTISTS.
